Pilar runs this tight ship and oversees all quotes, paperwork, timelines, and manages relationships with various laboratories, the USDA, the CDC, and the airlines. When she shows up at the vet, the kennel partner, or the airlines, the long-timers give hugs. The newer folks raise an eyebrow and ask, "Who is she?"
Pilar is the boss lady.
She and Rod also actively preserve and exhibit Scottish Terriers under the Bravo kennel name and Bouvier des Flandres under the La Chanson kennel name. They have a full house they lovingly call The Ottcienda.
OWNER
Rod does his best to manage Pilar, has his eyes on every communication that comes in and goes out, and is a key decision maker about business operations. He's thankful Pilar's the boss lady overseeing the daily business and employees, but although he may seem quiet on the client communication front, he constantly chatters with the team and they all know he's very present and one of the reasons our business succeeds.
He also works full time as an Animal Nutritionist for a livestock feed company in Ohio who benefits from his B.S. in Animal Science and M.S. in Swine Nutrition - both from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana.
PET TRAVEL COORDINATOR
Randy has known Pilar since high school and likes to say that their "friendship was forged in the fires of adolescence". He's not wrong. He started off as a part-time in-cabin nanny during COVID until Pilar tricked him into helping with phone calls and emails. Those tasks gave him a strong understanding of what we do for our clients.
His background in hospitality and bartending in Key West gives him an amazing ability to communicate with clients and after running national dance competitions he has decided that animals are easier than children.
He also knows how to decipher the various "tones" in Pilar's voice - a specialized skill of utter importance.
PET TRAVEL COORDINATOR
Susan is a long-time breeder and exhibitor of Australian Shepherds and began to step into a similar role as Randy in November 2022 to assist with client communications and "traffic". Susan's previous jobs managing vendors for a dog toy company and then a high end pet food company piqued Pilar's interest in having her become an integral part of client communications and internal task follow-through. She also assists with local transports for our clients' animals... which means even Pilar and Rod trust her with their own dogs when the need arises.
Basically, Susan understands the Casa needs and we're happy to have her "under our roof".
PET TRAVEL COORDINATOR
Located in Northern California, Kendyl is a Novia Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever breeder, a new mom, and is the newest team member at Casa Fairview. In the past, she has exported one of her own dogs to Australia and has also taken one of her dogs to compete at Crufts in the UK. Now? She's now on the "other side" of pet transportation assisting with these types of challenging moves.
Kendyl's previous jobs as an assistant for professional handlers Larry and Laurie Fenner (Black & Gold), as an admin assistant and technician for ICSB NorCal (Canine Reproduction), and as a grooming salon coordinator, prepared her for the wonderful world of pet transporting that greatly helps our team and our clients.
LOGISTICS SPECIALIST & SOUTHERN CHARMER
Pilar has known Dorothy since their college days at Northwestern University. Every once in a while she would assist with USDA paperwork when the LAX office still had in-person drop offs and pick ups. Their shared experience with performing, in the spring of 2022, both Pilar and Dorothy were slated to do live emcee work for ServiceNow conferences in NY and Vegas before the client chose to cancel these roles. Dorothy, naturally bummed and wishing for more work, jumped at the dangled carrot by Pilar to assist with pick ups, drop offs, vet visits, and even special visits (like vendor gift drop offs).
If she looks familiar to you, she's also a working actress. You may have seen her in a KFC Holiday Bowls 2022 commercial.
PET NANNY
Marven offered his services in 2020 to assist Pilar with efforts around LAX (pick ups, drop offs, vet visits) and enjoys his time in the sky as an in-cabin & accompanied pet nanny. During COVID, many people didn't want to fly. Marven's philosophy? Had mask. Would travel.
Based in Los Angeles, he is our go-to guy for transports originating or needing to get to the west coast when we can't fly them as cargo.
PET NANNY
Stacy and Pilar met years ago working live corporate events and Stacy's two weaknesses are animals and chocolate. During COVID with no live events and an additional need for in-cabin transport, Stacy became one of our cherished nannies. She loves getting updates from some of her delivered pets. We're thankful to have her whenever we need her.
While we pay her wages, our clients can always tip her in chocolate and she won't complain.
